Parent Resource Center
Welcome
Welcome to the Camp Durant Parent Resource Center—your all-in-one guide for a successful, fun-filled summer camp experience! This page ensures every family has the information and tools needed before, during, and after their time at camp.

Register
All Scouts must register for Camp Durant through their unit leader to attend with their troop.
Scouts registering independently will join a provisional Troop (separate for boys and girls). A provisional Troop is a temporary group led by a volunteer adult for Scouts attending without their regular unit. The leader ensures supervision, integration into camp activities, and adherence to all rules.

While At Camp
Stay connected during your Scout’s week at Camp Durant! We offer a password-protected website with live camera views from around camp so families can see the action each day. To access this page, you can get the password through your unit leader or by emailing program@ocscouts.org.
We also provide a way for families to send messages (info provided in the parent guide) or get in touch with their Scout during camp. Whether it’s encouragement from home or an important update, our staff will make sure your message reaches your camper.

After Camp
We want to help you keep the excitement and memories of Camp Durant alive long after your Scout returns home. We post an album each week of pictures on Facebook. We encourage families and Scouts to share their favorite moments and achievements within their units and on social media to celebrate the experience.
Additionally, consider ways to maintain the momentum by encouraging Scouts to apply new skills, pursue earned merit badges, and get involved in year-round council programs and activities.

DIRECTIONS TO CAMP DURANT FROM RALEIGH
Take US-1 South from Raleigh past Sanford to the US-15/501 exit to Carthage and Pinehurst (you will see the Regan inn on your right just before you exit to the right). Take US-15/501 South to the outskirts of Carthage where the speed limit drops to 35 mph (enforced). Where 15/501 veers left and continues to Pinehurst, you will continue to head straight (West) where NC-24/27 peels off into Carthage. Continue into town until you reach a traffic circle which goes around the town’s courthouse. Turn right and so halfway around the traffic circle (as if you had gone straight through the courthouse) and continue on NC- 24/27 to the outskirts of town. After you have passed a convenience market and a graveyard on your right, you will come to a “Y” intersection where you will turn left onto Bethlehem Church Road. (On your right will be a small building that used to be a gas station with a blue roof.) You will come to a very sharp curve almost immediately after turning..go slow! After & miles of twisting country road, you will come to a flashing light. After stopping, go through the light, you are now on Old Carthage Rd. On your left you will pass a brick Methodist Church before coming to the service entrance to Camp Durant. The entrance to camp is about a half mile further on the left.
