What is Scoutreach?
Scoutreach is dedicated to ensuring every young person, regardless of background or circumstances, has the chance to experience Scouting. We provide extra resources and support for Scouts in low-income, hard-to-serve urban and rural communities across the Occoneechee Council area.
Scoutreach supports local units and families by offering:
- Adult Leadership Stipends: Funding to help recruit and support strong, consistent Scout leaders in underserved areas.
- Registration Fee Assistance: Help with membership dues so that cost is never a barrier.
- Uniforms & Handbooks: Providing essential materials so every Scout can participate fully.
- Program Equipment: Supplying the gear needed for great Scouting adventures and learning.
- Summer Camp Scholarships (“Camperships”): Making camp possible for every Scout.
Scoutreach is dedicated to building self-esteem, confidence, and leadership in youth from underserved urban and rural communities. By partnering with adult leaders and chartered organizations, Scoutreach ensures that all young people have the opportunity to join Scouting and benefit from its life-changing experiences. The program focuses on developing confident, capable youth through positive activities and mentorship, reflecting the Occoneechee Council’s commitment to welcoming Scouts from every neighborhood and background.
Scoutreach is available to units, families, and community partners who want to make Scouting accessible to all youth. Whether you represent a school, church, or other organization, Scoutreach can provide leadership and resources to support your group’s Scouting involvement. Bryan Simon is the dedicated Scoutreach Director for the Occoneechee Council, passionately committed to expanding Scouting opportunities for underserved youth in urban and rural communities. With a focus on building strong adult leadership and meaningful partnerships, Bryan works tirelessly to ensure every young person has access to the life-changing experiences that Scouting provides. His leadership helps remove barriers so more youth can develop confidence, leadership skills, and a sense of belonging through Scouting.
